Humanity created the raw material of AI.
The visual identity for Human Data Rights — an editorial, research-backed initiative on the economics of human data. This page is the entire brand: palette, typography, logo, glyphs, motion, and voice, in one place, shareable as a single link.
Palette
Ten tokens. One warm accent (saffron). One cool counterpoint (indigo). Never gradients. Never three-colour compositions. Click any swatch to copy its hex.
Typography
Two families only. Fraunces (warm humanist serif, italic-forward) carries the display voice. Inter carries body and micro. No third family. No condensed variants.
Wordmark & logo
The primary logo mark is the silent monogram — three glyphs stacked: open circle (Human), three dots (Data), saffron arc (Rights). Use it everywhere small.
The three glyphs
The wordmark decomposes into three sumi glyphs that recur across every surface: covers, dividers, bullets, favicons, video opens.
Human
An open circle. The head, the figure, the individual. Ink stroke, 3–3.5px at base.
Data
Three-dot cluster or a longer particulate cascade. Grain, rain, raw material.
Rights
A single saffron arc. Threshold, enclosure, protection. The only warm mark in the identity.
Motion
Editorial stillness, not marketing energy. Two motion primitives: fade-and-rise on scroll, and ink-appears for the monogram. Everything else is static.
Applied surfaces
The identity extends to website, newsletter, Substack, socials, deck, and print. Below: newsletter covers in the Nālandā Ongaku series.

Do & Don't
A short list of rules that keep the identity coherent across every surface, every hand, and every deadline.
Do
- ✓ Lead every surface with the three-word phrase Human Data Rights.
- ✓ Use the silent monogram (circle · dots · arc) for avatars, favicons, and social squares.
- ✓ Set every headline in Fraunces italic; set every body paragraph in Inter.
- ✓ Use saffron as the sole warm accent. Reserve aged gold for the series tag only.
- ✓ Let compositions breathe — generous negative space, one motif per surface.
- ✓ Ask questions on covers. Never sell.
Don't
- ✗ Lead any surface with the word "Coalition".
- ✗ Set the wordmark in Plus Jakarta Sans, Poppins, or any rounded sans.
- ✗ Gradient the wordmark. Don't shadow it. Don't outline it.
- ✗ Combine three or more colours in a single component.
- ✗ Use blob shapes, animated gradient text, or hover-lift cards.
- ✗ Stock photography of people at laptops or 3D AI brains.
